Extruder Operator

This position will be responsible for setup and operation of extruder equipment to produce a high quality pet food.

Essential Functions of the Position (Responsibilities)

  • Operates and maintains extruder equipment.

  • Performs set up, start up and shut down of extruder equipment.

  • Responsible for completion of hourly QC report 8010. Report consists of recording feed rate, water, temperature, steam, dryer, kibble and cooling bin setting.

  • Responsible for maintaining operating conditioning cylinder above 170 degrees.

  • Will ensure the kibble physical shape meets customer specification as it relates to diameter, density, and cut length of kibble.

  • Perform visual inspections and measure kibble by using micrometer.

  • Exhibit safe work practices.

  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisor and coworkers.

  • Report any discrepancies to Management.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

  • Follow and comply with SOP, QA, RUPP, HACCP procedures, rules and regulations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate

  • Prior milling experience preferred but not required

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Prior forklift and /or manufacturing experience preferred but not required

  • Attention to detail

  • Mathematical skills
